BOOYA DOUG,

BAGGA is a total badass and will make you eat crow. My oldest brother had Labour of Love as one of his first of 5 CDs when CDs hit the consumer market. Do you think a band that were opperating on the skirt tails of Bob Marley would have the clout to be selling $30 CDs to minors in the early 90s. I THINK NOT! Do you remember back to your Oklahoma Roots and that Middle America evnet called RAGGAE FEST? Yes that's right the one that happened in a big field and touted a bunch of those "Jamaican Cigarettes" (the ones they would sell to minors at a much elevated price but were just like a maple leaf rolled around some cloves and lawn clippings). Yes they were there, once. And then the show moved out to some horse track in Claremore and eventually died off because people in rural communities don't have an ear for lyrical gold.

EAT A DICK DOUG. I pray to THC (which I believe is what the Rasta religion worships, not too sure, I just like their music, the rest frightens me) that your 5 1/2 readers will take your writtings as a challenge to listen to some music by UB40. They can be the judge.

P.S. BAGGA RULEZ

Sorry, but you did not experience the sound of "white" reggae. Nor a band who simply "got high and listened to Bob Marley in High School. UB40 is just a Reggae band, period. I saw the tour twice this summer. I am a big fan of theirs as well as a big reggae fan. I have to applaud Indie 103.1 for offering the tickets because they obviously have excellent taste in doing so.. I'm sorry that the positive vibes of the concert were lost on you. In fact, they really are one of the world's finest bands. Their unique style of reggae and multicultural perspective have touched so many in the world. The popularity of Red Red Wine and Can't Help Falling In Love are great but don't even touch the surface of their original music and lyrics, nor the debt they pay back to the originators of reggae by keeping some of their songs alive. I hope readers will look past your review and try some UB40 music. For those new to UB40, may I suggest trying out their latest album: the grammy nominated" Who You Fighting For", "Labour of Love I", "Signing Off and The Very Best of UB40 as a starting point.

If you were to actually listen to some of the lyrics in their songs you might be a bit more open to what they represent. Not everyone loves reggae and to each their own. BUT UB40 are the most hardworking, socially aware group on the planet and to be still packing out stadiums around the world after 25 years is no mean feat.

I'm not a UB40 fan myself; however, I do find it impressive that you managed thirteen paragraphs on a concert you ditched halfway through. Even more, a UB40 concert.

I have TWO UB40 albums - but in my defense my mom gave them to me as presents when I was about 16, but I do like the two 'hits' you mentioned that come on the radio
